I've been trying this build for a while and I'm not able to kill them, I can tank them for a long time w/o dying as long as I'm in range of qz and I've even used Arcane Echo for more security but the mobs never die
Their lifes drop at around 75% or so but never go lower than that. Could it be because of a bad grouping?
Please tell me what I'm doing wrong ^^

maybe one monk wandered off from the SV affection range and casted Healing Seed, this can stop you from doing any dmg at all.... sux... i know that

this run is completely viable
I think the OP is mistaken in the crucialness of maintaining sb ( i usually cast sb about 6-10 times depending on the initial aggro)
You can aggro the first 3 major groups when leaving the city
I brought along healing breeze to deal with the burning (just cuz I can) and I brought essence bond instead of a copy of sympathetic visage
I also brought along my friend to maintain qz and we split profit nicely (this is crucial to maintaining sb long enough for you to form a nice cluster of casters).
I admire you if you can do this solo, but for the most part its about 1000x safer with a qz dropper.

I find this way easier using the ranger hero to keep up the spirits. I can't rely on the enemies spirits staying up.
I get less drops but it's better than not being able to cast SB and dying.

i was able to solo this a few times and got 2 margonite gems or whatever they are called. But i also die alot when qz wasn't up when i needed it. clustering them up is much harder then the ole shiroken but still doable as long as you are still in QZ range when you have to recast SB. I eventually took my hero ranger and it was a bit easier with her dropping qz for me.

i've been doing it for quite a long time, recently with fellow ranger with qz+eoe+ famine (just in case); but anyway. i found it really annoying with luring all these to one tightly packed group. The Paragons have spear attack range, so they are closer to me than spellcasters, monks often run (healing whisper), to heal melee attackers (dmg from sv/av). and... what i find really annoying... melee doesn't seem to run away to heal, but keep constantly smashing me while i have sv/av on and they die in the end. this makes finishing the group impossible, and when there are necro's or ele's still alive, i can barely stay alive (not enough energy income + ench removal + etc). so, for around 50 runs done, 5 were clear, 5 were half-clear, rest was just f**d up (bah anyway it's matter of luring so the build itself is wonderful). Anyways, anyone have any idea how to improve the build itself to make the whole area clearable?? because only problem i find is not enough melee's there. I was even thinking of getting another monk, that'd cast enchants on you and then you could take something else to deal dmg. but that's unsure (if you manage to get WHOLE group to get below 90% hp, eoe SHOULD simply finish them off).
greetz + thx (3 margonite gemstones dropped)

please post a video for dumb people like me.
I tried this many times already. It simply doesnt work. The spell breaker runs out and I die to eles.
Also, how do you get 135? I get 130 but not 135. And what about the debilitating shot?? that thig owns me.

Been trying this solo, and it's very difficult, but achievable.
I've actually been able to kill about 6/8 of the first group of Margonites in the Foundry of Failed Creations. However, in the city, I can't ever bundle ALL the casters up at once. Sooner or later, GZ goes away and I loose SB, and die.
Hoping my Ranger m8 can get on so I can try this with a human spamming QZ. I've taken to using Essence bond in the free slot as I had major energy issues. However, if two manned, the free slot could become available once again if the Ranger took Balthazar's Spirit.

It may look unimportant but ur Lightbringer lvl is important too. If u have >4 LB u dont get dmg. Sigh Burning still works. But thats a minor chase.

I wondered whether this, or anything similar could be done with an A/Me, or an Me/A, using shadow form. Perhaps energy management would be a struggle, but with a partner to cast Balthazar's Aura on you, this might not be a major issue. Dealing with burning could involve having Mending cast on you be your partner at the start, along with Watchful Spirit, or it would be dealt with by the player themselves using the Assassin's regen spell, Shadow Refuge.
If this is viable, it would free up much time for the player to concentrate on casting the other spells, since there would be fewer spells requiring spamming. Also, potentially, aggroing could be easier with fewer spells to cast continuously. Worth a thought, I reckon

balthazar spirit wouldn't trigger as shadow form makes all attacks "miss". in addittion, burning wouldn't affect you (blazing spear miss).
This was the first build i've tried in city of torc'qua as my monk was far from DoA at the time my ele was there :P
Problems there:
1. healing seed lasts 10 seconds, that's really enough to outheal ANY dmg u deal (even with boosted sliver armor). It heals for around 28, you can deal about 32 dmg... that's 4 pure dmg you deal actually... even with so many mobs around (i've never seen that much dmg dealt to one dude per second).
2. requires alot of awareness to warp back using shadow of haste + dash
3. mobs often follow you until beginning of map = death
4. i've managed to kill 4 margonites...
5. takes way longer and not so efficient as Mo/Me solo

Am i the only one experiencing some anomaly today? I dont seem to gain energy when they hit me. I do have balth spirit on myself, and i understand rangers do have debilitating shot. However, there would be upside downs in that case, but there are not. Played two times, same thing happens. Few days ago i managed to kill em but today i cannot. Maybe im missing something or it's just bad luck/skill.

awesome build specter. works great. ya the pain in the butt part is getting them grouped and making sure you have the melee aggro'd with them to trigger your sv. thanks for the post.
edit: ive had np with getting stuck and i use watchful healing in my free slot to help with burning spear degen.
